At Medcann Foundation, we aim to provide support and information to any person who is inquiring about the medicinal use of Cannabis as an alternative to using conventional pharmaceuticals for treating pain and a variety of other health conditions. We strictly adhere to Health Canada regulations.

 
Q: Is Medicinal Cannabis legal?

A: Marihuana remains an illegal and controlled substance. However under the Marihuana Medical Access Regulations, Health Canada allows for medical access to marihuana for people who are suffering from certain illnesses.

Q: Is smoking Cannabis safe?

A: Although there are no known reports that indicate smoking Cannabis is harmful, Medcann Foundation suggests to ingest or inhalation with a vaporizer.

Q: What is a vaporizer?

A: A vaporizer is a device that heats the Cannabis to a temperature that allows only the active ingredients to burn. This leaves the inactive parts of the plant un-burnt, and provides a healthy, clean, clear smoke.

Q: How do I know how much Cannabis I require each day?

A: The effect of Cannabis is varied for each patient. Medcann has found that patients on average require 5 – 7 g /day. This is a medication and as such your dosage should be reviewed with your physician and adjusted if required.

Q: What is Cannabis used for?

A: Cannabis is used to treat pain related to but not limited to; Arthritis, Multiple Sclerosis, Spinal cord damage, RSD, Cancer, AIDS. Cannabis is also used to help with nausea associated with Chemotherapy. This is just a sample of what Cannabis can be used for.

Q: What are some of the side effects?

A: There are not many, but the most commonly reported side effects are a feeling of dizziness, and paranoia. The dizziness is usually the result of consuming too much, and can be rectified by reducing the dosage. The paranoid feeling is usually related to the patient’s state of mind about Cannabis. It is important to remember that Cannabis is an accepted medicine, and there is nothing to feel guilty about.

Q: I am nervous or embarrassed about talking to my physician about Cannabis what should I do?

A: The first thing to do is for you to recognize that Cannabis is a medication. There is nothing wrong with having an honest discussion with your doctor about your condition and a possible natural medication.

Q: Is the application process difficult?

A: No, Health Canada has made the process convenient for both the patient and the physician. If you need any information on applying to Health Canada please feel free to contact us at info@medcann.ca.

Q: I have my license, where can I obtain my Medicinal Cannabis from?

A: Licensed patients can legally obtain Cannabis from either Health Canada or from a designated provider such as Medcann Foundation. Additional information can be obtained by contacting info@medcann.ca

Q: I have my possession licence and want to grow but I don't know where to get started.

A: Medcann Foundation offers information, equipment, and installation of grow systems. Medcann Foundation also offers ongoing technical support for patients with their growing needs.

Q: If I start to use Cannabis can I stop taking my other pain medications?

A: Many patients have greatly reduced and often eliminated other medications when using Cannabis. It is very important to communicate with your physician about any and all changes to your medication regime.
